With the Castle Museum Arnstadt primarily the name of the unique doll collection: "Mon plaisir" comes to mind. In it, a detailed image of a small German residence town, from the first half of the 18th Century, is portrayed. With its 82 scenes and a total of 391 figures, it is the world's largest and most extensive collection of its kind.

The collection of porcelain, most of which can be admired in several porcelain and mirror cabinets, consists of a total of approximately 1.000 Chinese and Japanese porcelains, mainly from the period around 1700.

The stables west of the main building houses a lapidary (tombstones from the 18th century, architectural parts of the Neideck Castle from the 16th century) and a collection of historic fire arms (closed during winter opening times).

Since December 2009, there is an exhibition called "Bach in Arnstadt" at the premises of the Castle Museum Arnstadt. As one of the outstanding exhibits, the organ console, which has been completed in 1703 by the organ builder Johann Friedrich Wender and test played by Johann Sebastian Bach himself, is presented there. The musical work of Johann Sebastian Bach, as well as facts about his life and family can be discovered in the exhibition as well.
