Enjoy nature on this circular route through the Langenrain forest and on the Höhenweg above Lake Überlingen on the Bodanrück with a fantastic view over the Hegau mountains. Refresh yourself along your hike with a break at Hof Höfen. The path runs partly along the premium hiking trail SeeGang.
We start our route at the community center in Langenrain, the path is marked with a red triangle. The community center is located right in the village center of Langenrain, at the final bus stop. Standing with your back to the community center, we follow the street ("Blissenweg") out of the village in the direction we are facing. The path leads past fields and meadows to a field cross. At this crossroads, we turn left following the signpost "Blissenweg" and follow the path that runs along the cliff edge at Lake Überlingen. Caution: The shore edge at Lake Überlingen runs along the path. It is not marked or secured (children must be supervised accordingly at this point). The path continues through the forest and slightly climbs there. After a short time, we reach a junction with various signposts. Here we head in the direction of "Bodman-Liggeringen." At the end of this path, we reach another crossroads with a field cross. Here you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view to the west over the Hegau mountains with the "Hohentwiel", a volcanic cone that was active 10 million years ago and has since become extinct, and to the south over the heights of the "Thurgauer Seeerücken" in Switzerland. After a short break with a panoramic view, we continue and follow the signpost "Höhenweg." After a short while, we pass a barrier. Here, there is now the option to turn right to take a break and visit the Hof Höfen guesthouse. Hof Höfen is owned by the Count of Bodman and was first documented in 1428. Hof Höfen was rebuilt in 1854.
Those who want to continue the route without a break stay straight on the gravel path. This leads downhill to the state road Liggeringen-Langenrain, which we follow on the sidewalk into the village. At the village entrance on the right is a beautiful half-timbered house of the manor house built around 1750 and shortly after that the Langerain castle, which belongs to the Count of Bodman and was built in 1686.
