Due to its flagship product, the Hirschbirne (derived from the word "Hiascht" - autumn), an old Styrian pear tree variety, the Pöllauer Tal has been the Pöllauer Hirschbirne GenussRegion since 2006 and has been awarded EU origin protection since 2015.
In 2006, the quality of the stag pear products was rewarded by the Ministry of Life: the Pöllau Valley was awarded the title "GenussRegion Pöllauer Hirschbirne".

A good reason to taste it... And the latest creations such as deer pear ham, deer pear liver sausage and deer pear chocolate, deer pear liqueur, sparkling wine and the delicious cider made from deer pears show just how inventive the deer pear is. Get the delicacies directly from the producers or enjoy the treasures in the excellent accommodation establishments, at one of the outstanding innkeepers or in a cozy Buschenschank of the Pöllauer Tal Nature Park.
