Section no. 4 begins in Colle (1238 m asl) a hamlet of Oggebbio and winds its way for 13 km on a wide dirt road which then turns into an easy grassy path without particular difficulties. A convenient parking space allows you to leave your car and begin the first ascent towards Monte Spalavera, and the view ahead is truly spectacular: from the lakes to the peaks of the Val Grande National Park up to the Monte Rosa chain and the Swiss Alps . Once near the summit cross, a panel shows the profile of the Alps with the names of their peaks and here it is possible to admire well-preserved trenches. Along the way you can admire the construction of an Ospedaletto and you reach Passo Folungo (1369 m asl), where the Strada Cadorna begins to climb with beautiful hairpin bends up to the Pian Vadà refuge: from here you have a wonderful view of Lake Maggiore , on the Intrasca Valley, on the peaks of the Val Grande National Park and on the Ossola peaks.

Description of the

The Cadorna Line is the defensive system built during the First World War between Piedmont and Switzerland for fear of an Austro-German invasion.
