The Slovenj Gradec Museum of the Koroška Regional Museum is located in the town centre and proudly presents an extensive collection of Jakob Soklič, a priest, collector and the first museum expert in Slovenj Gradec. His collection includes 1,800 items in the fields of archaeology, ethnology, cultural history, fine arts and non-European cultures. You can find an authentic contact with the past in the Church of St. George in Legen, where archaeologists discovered Old Slavic graves which are on display through a glass walking surface. Slovenj Gradec also played an important role during the times of the Roman Empire which is highlighted by the Božanskim Manom exhibition. The Birth House of Hugo Wolf with its permanent exhibition held in a historical living space from the late 19th century presents the life and work of the famous composer through all periods of his active, extravagant and also tragic life, with special emphasis on his childhood in Slovenj Gradec.
