33 - Elbele tour

Èlbele is the forest-covered hillock near Carbonare. In Cimbrian it means 'small alpe', meaning an area of pasture or high ground. The north side overlooks the upper Centa valley, while the south side overlooks the large meadow and pasture area known as Langenbisen ('long meadows', in Cimbrian). It is covered with coppice woodland, predominantly beech and hornbeam, mixed with resinous woods such as spruce and larch. The backdrop is the high wall of the Vigolana and Bècco di Filadonna.
