The Blaufränkischland Marathon takes you 42 kilometres from the red wine village of Deutschkreutz through the winegrowing villages of Neckenmarkt, Horitschon, Unterpetersdorf and Girm, a district of Deutschkreutz, before returning to the start/finish area in the MS Deutschkreutz school park. Along the way, you will be surprised by the partly flat, partly hilly landscape, which is very varied with some challenging climbs and fantastic views.
At a total of 13 gourmet stops along the marathon route, you will have the opportunity to taste the excellent wines of local winegrowers and enjoy typical regional delicacies and specialities. Mineral water, still water and grape juice are also available. Most of these enjoyment stations are located in the wineries in the respective local area, many of which impress with cosy courtyards, elegant tasting rooms or beautiful panoramic terraces. Some enjoyment stations are also located in the middle of the vineyards in beautiful panoramic locations. Don't miss out on a short break with a good glass of wine here!
On the longer routes between the villages, classic refreshment stations will also provide you with still water and iso-drinks to ensure that both the fastest runners as well as fun and pleasure runners get their money's worth at the Blaufränkischland Marathon!

The route runs through the centre of Deutschkreutz and continues on paved paths through vineyards and fields to Neckenmarkt, Horitschon, Unterpetersdorf, Girm and back to Deutschkreutz. For short distances, the route also runs on unpaved field and meadow paths and off-road through vineyards.

Wine tastings, mineral water, still water and grape juice are available at the enjoyment stations along the route. Hot and cold dishes - typical Burgenland specialities - provide the culinary offer. Additional refreshment stations with water and iso-drinks ensure sufficient hydration. Wine tastings, grape juice, water and the culinary offerings at the gourmet stations are included in the price of the starting place.
Sportswear and suitable footwear, fancy dress is welcome. The most original, funniest or most creative costumes will be selected by a jury and rewarded with attractive prizes.

There are hourly direct connections from Vienna and Wr. Neustadt to Deutschkreutz railway station.
There are public car parks in the Deutschkreutz area near the starting point.
Travelling by public transport: From Vienna and Wiener Neustadt there are hourly direct connections to Deutschkreutz railway station. Continue on foot for approx. 1.2 km (14 min walk) to the start/finish area in front of the Europaschule Deutschkreutz.
