*If you’re looking for a relaxing day of skiing or a winter vacation in the Carinthian Nockberge Mountains, away from the hustle and bustle and long distances, Hochrindl is the perfect place for you. Skiing. Simply beautiful—that’s what this family-friendly ski resort at 1,540 to 1,882 meters above sea level stands for. Compact, personal, and affordable, Hochrindl offers a surprising amount of variety with around 20 kilometers of slopes—and it’s just the right size to find your way around quickly while still enjoying a full day of skiing. Families with children, beginners, those returning to the sport, and older skiers especially appreciate the short distances, the personal atmosphere, and the relaxed skiing experience.

Awarded the Carinthian Quality Seal for Ski Slopes, the resort offers nine runs ranging from easy to challenging, five T-bar lifts, a connecting lift, and a 4-person chairlift. Generations of children have taken their first turns here. Parents appreciate being able to keep an eye on their children more easily, and recreational skiers love being out on the slopes without stress or pressure to perform.

EVEN OFF THE SLOPES, Hochrindl showcases its special winter charm. Cross-country skiers will find ideal conditions on approximately 12 kilometers of trails between 1,550 and 1,750 meters above sea level, where they can combine exercise with nature. As they ski, they’re treated to views of the snow-covered alpine pastures and the gentle peaks of the Nockberge Mountains.

If you prefer a bit more speed, hop on a sled. Three sledding runs provide winter fun for all ages. The sledding run near the Zirbenhütte is lit up after dark and equipped with a timing system—perfect for a little friendly competition among friends or family.

You don’t even need to bring your own gear: In addition to ski, snowboard, and cross-country skiing lessons, the Hochrindl Ski School offers a wide range of winter sports equipment for rent. And if you just want to soak up the winter sun for a bit, the ski area has lounge chairs and plenty of beautiful spots for a break with a view.

ENJOYMENT IS SIMPLY PART OF THE HOCHRINDL EXPERIENCE. In the cozy huts and restaurants on the mountain—such as the Hiasl Zirbenhütte, the Wugganig Hütte, Bauernstub’n, Il Gusto, or the Herzl Hütte—Carinthian delicacies, regional specialties, and authentic mountain hut charm await. Here, a day of skiing can certainly last a little longer—with a leisurely stop for refreshments, with friends, or together with the family.
