A visible expression of this can be seen in the wide range of activities organized by local clubs and associations. Whether culturally or in terms of sporting success, the people of Wildpoldsried are proud of their village life. In addition, Wildpoldsried is internationally known as an “energy village.”
Our municipality is located 10 km northeast of Kempten (Allgäu) at an altitude of 724 m above sea level in the Leubas basin.
Attractions in Wildpoldsried
- Take a journey into history with a visit to the ruins of Wolkenberg Castle
- Explore the Wildpoldsried water landscapes in the “WiWaLaMoor” moor area (supported by Leader+)
- St. Cyprian Chapel (1474) with remarkable features such as the high altar painting, Rococo decoration, and an inner wall niche used as an offering niche against boils
- Parish Church of St. George and St. Mauritius (late 14th century) with a Romanesque tower and Baroque character. Processional cross from around 1510. Late Gothic antler chandelier from 1519. At the outer southwest corner, carved heads (Celtic heads) are embedded in the wall
- Additional chapels in Meggenried, Unteregg, Ellenberg, Reuten, and Eufnach
