Die Gemeinde Rathmannsdorf befindet sich im Zentrum des Elbsandsteingebirges rechtselbig und erstreckt sich auf einer Fläche von ca. 4 km². Der Ort liegt zwischen beiden Teilen des Nationalparkes “Sächsische Schweiz”, inmitten des Landschaftsschutzgebietes und grenzt unmittelbar an die Kurstadt Bad Schandau.
