Vrin liegt zuhinterst in der Lumnezia auf 1448 m ü. M. 1998 wurde das Bündner Bergdorf mit dem Wakkerpreis ausgezeichnet und im 2010 mit einem „Europäischen Dorferneuerungspreis für ganzheitliche, nachhaltige und mottogerechte Dorfentwicklung von herausragender Qualität“ gewürdigt.
Vrin ist Ausgangspunkt zur Greina-Hochebene, welche als einzigartige Naturlandschaft der Schweiz bezeichnet wird.
